The Kanbar College of Design, Engineering (KDEC) and Commerce at Philadelphia University invites applicants to join us as we move the Philadelphia University (PhilaU) Engineering Programs in a path designed to enhance our reputation as a world-class engineering educational environment.  In partnership with Thomas Jefferson University, a world renowned Medical and Health Sciences university and hospital system, PhilaU Engineering is poised to launch into areas that include biomedical and bioprocess engineering, electrical and electronic instrumentation and controls, mechatronics, and computational engineering.  To do this, we seek energetic, highly motivated engineering educators with a desire to work in an environment built on depth in disciplinary practice that fully integrates multidisciplinary collaboration, industry engagement, and service learning, with a progressive, entrepreneurial approach to teaching, learning, student engagement and outreach.  

Applicants are being sought for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position that will start in August 2018.  As a Philadelphia University engineering faculty member, you will join a team of dedicated professionals focused on educating students in engineering practice with an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.  As part of our program, our students learn through an in-depth, rigorous engineering educational program that is coupled to a foundation in liberal arts and social sciences.  Integrated into this, PhilaU engineers gain valuable cross disciplinary knowledge and experience working on multidisciplinary teams that cut across design, systems thinking and business through a deliberately designed set of “DEC” core course that foster a transdisciplinary, team-based, entrepreneurial mindset.

College-level teaching experience is preferred. The candidate must be a strong communicator, team player and relationship builder. An aptitude for professional and pedagogical engagement in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment is a must. The candidate must have the credentials and teaching experience necessary to be a productive member of an ABET accredited engineering program.  The candidate will be responsible for teaching general engineering as well as mechanics, thermodynamics, and mechatronics courses in the undergraduate engineering majors. The candidate will also conduct student advising; facilitate and oversee internships and industry sponsored projects; and supervise senior projects. The Candidate may also teach in the graduate program.

Education Required:

The qualified candidate will possess a doctorate or foreign equivalent to a U.S. doctoral degree in engineering.

•    Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
•    Serve as advisor for undergraduate and graduate students
•    Facilitate and oversee internships, independent studies, theses, and capstone projects
•    Pursue research and scholarship
