Faculty Position

Title of Position:
Assistant Professor of Anthropology

Status:
Full-time, 9-months, tenure-track

Qualifications:
Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member trained in anthropology, with a strong commitment to general education in the liberal arts. The ideal candidate will have a record of excellence in teaching at the college level; ethnographic training; strong scholarship in the candidate’s field(s) of expertise; and demonstrated commitment to the pedagogies of active student learning. Preferred research specialties within anthropology include cultural, feminist, transnational, global, medical, or critical-race studies. Experience working in an interdisciplinary setting and a commitment to interdisciplinary research is a plus.

Education Required:
The successful candidate must have a research doctorate or a
Foreign equivalent to a U.S. research doctoral degree in anthropology or related field.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach and help develop multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary courses in the undergraduate, general education core curriculum as well as in new interdisciplinary majors under development. The standard teaching load is 12 credits per semester, with reductions for administrative roles.
